The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure About Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Stories
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
